Every year we search out the perfect addition to our December household. Tall, green, spiky, as dense as can be, it’s the annual search for a Christmas tree. Yes, I rhyme now.
Barring a few years when time or weather kept us from doing so, every year my family goes into the depths of the Rocky Mountains, and picks out the perfect evergreen to cut down, douse with little lightbulbs, and cover from head to toe in orbs and sparkles and Bigfoot ornaments from that one trip to Bigfoot country we took many years ago. All sanctioned by the U.S. Forest Service. (Except for maybe the Bigfoot ornament, they may have words to say about that. [insert X-Files theme]) It’s a fantastic, happy tradition.
We traipsed into the woods this past weekend, and I documented away for this month’s 10-on-10 rendition.
This is me, shooting video of DP cutting down our Christmas tree. With my eyes closed. I hear that’s the technique all the pros are using these days. (Photo by Emily.)
I love that she looks like she’s just swiped this tree all “nothing to see here” style. Thatta girl.
Strongest one of the clan, our youngest sister.
As always, check out the fellow 10-on-10ers who I’ve linked to here. And, if you’re a visitor who finds his or her way here but once a month, I hope you have a very Merry Christmas, a happy holiday season, and the best of new year celebrations. I’ll see you in 2014.
