Once upon a time, there was a Green Umbrella.
A bright green umbrella.
Practically neon.
The kind of bright green that was so reflective, when its user walked around with it in the darkness of night, she never had to fear being hit by a car. Or a bus. Or any other large, four-wheeled object. Which, frankly, is a good quality in an umbrella.
As well as most other accessories.
One day, the Green Umbrella’s owner wanted to take a photo of said umbrella to showcase its lovely, neon, reflective, green hue. But it was already dark outside, so she proceeded inside to complete her task.
The umbrella, you must understand, really looks most impressive when popped open. Especially when getting a closeup portrait taken. However, everyone knows opening an umbrella inside is bad luck.
At least, that’s what that one person said, that one time, in that one place.
The Green Umbrella owner isn’t usually prone to believing such superstitions – she has, after all, stepped on many cracks, and her mother’s back remains unbroken – however, on this special occasion, just this once, she decided to abide by the superstitious umbrella rules.
You see, at the time this story occurred, the Green Umbrella owner had already seen three black cats cross her path in the course of one week. And with Halloween approaching so quickly, one really can’t mess with those odds.
So, the Green Umbrella remained closed up to wait for another day to make its grand debut.
And that’s the story of how the Green Umbrella’s owner wrote a whole blog post on silly superstitions.
(Though, the three black cat thing was totally true.)
