By the time Saturday night rolls around, I will have shot four concerts in one week. Let me tell you, I’m exhausted! However, with that said, the show last night – Local Natives, with the Love Language and Union Line – was amazing.
I have never shot a show that was so beautifully lit before. With concert photography, it’s always a little touch-and-go with what sort of lighting you’ll get. Often, the tech guys use a lot of red light or a lot of blue light. Too much of either is extremely difficult to work with when it’s already a dark atmosphere. You have to get creative.
But the techs at Fox Theatre were exquisite. Really. I think a solid round of applause is in order. That, or I’ll take them all out for pie. Maybe both.
The point is, of the shows I’ve shot for Reverb thus far, this was my favorite. The bands were all insanely energetic and engaging, the light – well, you know – the crowd was a bit squished into every corner but still so excited to be there, and the Fox staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly.
All-in-all, two thumbs up! If I was a mutant, I’d give them three.

Thanks, guys!
