We don’t often know where a trip will take us. At least, not the way my family usually conducts our vacationing. We’ll construct a basic plan — New York City, museums, coffee, streets of Manhattan, more coffee — and then see where the intervening days take us. It’s the best way to go if I do say so myself. I like exploring, seeing what’s nearby, noticing things as they come up. Sometimes we get lost. Sometimes we know precisely where we’re going. Sometimes (most times) we’re operating in between those two points.
