OK, so I know I said this week was all Stock Show all the time, but I was sitting around last night and was struck with the overwhelming desire to bake. Or cook. Or eat something scrumptious. Or create something of such culinary perfection that I can be discovered and start my own Food Network show. Stat.
Or just the delicious baking will be fine.
Unfortunately, I am without most of the basics one needs for creating baked goods.
Like counter space. Or baking utensils.
Or ingredients.
So instead of becoming proactive and doing something about this, like, say, going to the grocery store, I just pulled up these images from Christmas morning and reminisced about past culinary times.
Procrastinate much?
Our dear family friends (friends who we have known since I was approximately two years old), gave us this kit for little, filled pancakes. It’s a Denmark thing: aebleskiver. (Please don’t ask me to pronounce that, because I’ll try. And it won’t be pretty).
You fill them with whatever strikes you as necessary. (Chocolate and jam seen here.)
Then you flip them with skewers, chopsticks or knitting needles.
And voilĂ ! (What’s the Danish word for “voila”?)
Delicious.
We had a pre-packaged mix that came with our nifty pan, but if you’re curious, try this recipe.
Let me know how it goes.
