drip, drip, drop || Colorado weather

The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain.

The rain in Colorado stays mainly flooding the streets all day long.

Unless it’s turning into snow. Or hail.

In May.

The Colorado weather has made today a rather dreary, blurry, drippy day.

It’s the kind of day you wish to spend curled within your bed in a warm house watching movies or reading literature.

Not trudging through the downpour with your Colorado Rockies umbrella, narrowly avoiding puddles only to reach your place of work to find one last, conniving puddle lying in wait for your laceless sneakers.

Laceless – canvas – sneakers which incidentally do not repel water.

At all.

It did however give me a prime opportunity to perfect my One-Legged, Sopping Left Foot dance.

It’s a dance craze that I expect will start sweeping the nation any day now.

So stay tuned.

From the ground up || The Colorado Campaign

It’s inadvisable to walk around with your head in the clouds for too long.

But sometimes, just now and then, take a moment. Look up. See the view that exists above you.

I’ve always asserted that though Denver is a small, little city, it has a grand wish contained within it. The mountains so close to the west of the metropolis give it something to aspire to, look to for inspiration.

Look up as you walk about Denver. You’ll see what I mean in the new and old; the buildings just being created and the ones that have stood for many years.

Telling stories in the West || The Colorado Campaign

My apologies for getting this post up later than usual tonight. It’s been a busy day of eye-doctoring and friend-meeting and fish-eating and time-having.

Today’s Colorado Campaign comes to you from Daniel Petty. Social media editor at the Denver Post by day (and often night), reporter and photographer…also by day (and often…night – I’m bad at this using a common phrase thing), he’s a journalism/photography/running/climbing/jumping fool. And I mean that in the best way possible. Truly.

So, please join me in welcoming him to the Campaign. (And when you’re through here, check out his site and Twittering ways.)

DENVER — If you’re fortunate enough to find and do a job you love you’ll never have to work a day in your life.

Focused perspective || Fancy phone photography

I’m lacking words today.

I’ve started typing, then deleting, then re-typing, then deleting, and beginning once more, over and over again.

I’m not sure where my words have gone this evening. Perhaps they are just weary from a long week and have thus decided to begin the weekend early.

Perhaps I should follow my words’ lead and do the same.

Perhaps I should just show you my walkabout photos from yesterday.

Well, all right then, I will.

Varied views || The Colorado Campaign

Yesterday I made a general call to you all to take a photo today from wherever you might find yourself, and send it in for one massive, collaborative, montage of a Colorado Campaign post.

Here’s what you came up with.
