the recentlys 3 || fancy phone selections

Because it’s Friday…

Because I’ve eaten approximately 16 pounds of Milk Duds today (give or take)…

Because we only have one more full week of October…

Because I’m trying to clear my fancy phone of all photos…

I present to you installment three of the recentlys. (Please hold your applause.)

What! I like fall colors. It can’t be helped.

That’s a label maker in his left hand. He super stoked about it.

And also journalism.

I photographed a really beautiful family a few weekends ago. The 4 1/2 year old presented me this flower from her garden as I packed up to leave.

All right, sports fans, over and out. Have a fantastic weekend. Do big things that make your palms sweaty. Have adventures and a second cup of coffee (or third, if that’s how you roll).

the recentlys 2 || fancy phone selections

I held three remotes in my hand. Each of them with an on/off button. None of them doing anything of the sort.

In an age when we are swamped with electronic devices to aid and abet almost every activity, you would think that a 21st century gal such as myself would be able to figure out how to turn on a television.

I’m sorry to report, I tried…tried…made the fancy new TV revert to a more primitive form (a.k.a. static snow storm screen)…and then gave up before I made it even more angry.

If our world is ever taken over by robots a la The Terminator I’m going to be one of the first to go.

Which leads us to the second installment of the recentlys.

I’m starting a new series here. It may be every Friday. It may be every other Friday. It may appear on a Tuesday one week, just to see if you’re paying attention.

It’s called the recentlys.

FAQs

Q: Do you know that “recentlys” doesn’t even vaguely resemble a proper word?

A: Yes I do! But sometimes you have to march against the current of the masses. And sometimes, you just have to start your own parade all together. I’ll let you decide which of those analogies is more suitable in this instance.

Q: What will be included in this series?

A: Fancy phone photos of all varieties — in-between, quiet moments and snagged frames while on assignment, incidentals that I think are humorous. And probably (definitely) coffee.

Q: What will you be shooting these photos with?

A: These will all be shot with the fancy phone formerly known as the iPhone 4. As far as I know, it’s still called the iPhone 4 to the tech savvy amongst us, but I ceased calling it that pretty much right away. See the parade comment above.

Q: When will this series launch?

A: Right now!

(All photos processed with the VSCO cam app.)

(And yes, the FAQs were staged.)

(I’m sorry you had to find out this way.)
