Ladies and gentleman, the moment you’ve all been waiting for!
Well, the moment I’ve been waiting for, because unless you live in my head, you wouldn’t really know to expect this moment.
Herein lies the final installment of the Orlando family vacation recap. It comes to you in the form of a video. A random video at that, because that’s just how I roll.
Comes as a shock I know. Me, random?
Am I right?
Don’t let this cheery photo deceive you.
It’s been raining for two days straight. As a Colorado native – accustomed to 300+ days of sun per year – I begin to get very gloomy when cloudiness stretches beyond a single day.
Birds stop singing.
Tempers rise.
An abundance of coffee is needed.
And random, goofy videos are made.
And then those videos are posted onto blogs for all to see.
The poms squad project has come to a close.
The girls full on rocked it out at their recital. The year of early, hard, frequent practices paid off and they showed everyone just what all that dedication stood for.
This past Monday, the poms came together for an end-of-the-year banquet to celebrate their season together. At that banquet, their coach played a slideshow of pictures from their season (some of my early project photos included). In the spirit of that grand idea, I give you a slideshow of this project.
It’s been a great run with them, these past few months, and I hope to have the opportunity to continue to work with them in the fall when their competition season rolls around again.
Until then, as my dear Elise put it, “Let us rejoice in memories!” (She’s a goof, but I think we’ll keep her anyway.)
What do you know about archery?
If you answered with some reference to Robin Hood or Xena Warrior Princess, we should be best friends. (Though, having never seen Xena Warrior Princess, I can neither confirm nor deny her usage of bows and arrows. She just seemed like the right kind of gal for such things.)
Up until Saturday, Robin and Xena were my only working knowledge of archery. Oh, and Lord of the Rings. I believe there was some nifty archers in that flick. Popular culture aside though, I had nothing. Splitting an arrow with another arrow, mid-flight, en route to a target to win an archery contest Robin Hood Disney-style, seemed totally plausible.
So when told I would be trusted to try out this age-old style of weaponry for myself, I got a little giddy, a little nervous, and a little stoked to don a pointy hat and join an outlawed band of Merry Men.
My family came along.
And I made a video.

So…what can I say about this video?
Remember that I’m new at this whole videography thing.
And that it was perhaps not the best plan to try to film something at night.
When it’s rather dark.
And hence, not so scenic.
Also, this video might as well be subtitled, “Anya gets over her issues with hearing her own voice” because I do a lot of chatting right at the beginning.
And yes, I’m still pretty horrified about that fact.
But, there’s no sense in putting it off. This is all I’ve got for the day and I’m doing my best to post daily. So here you go.
