Here are some searches that all lead to a common place: jalapenos contact lenses damage, escher brain, walt disney’s first cousins.

That common place, is my blog.

It astounds me, the random searches that ultimately lead to this little place on the internet. I feel both entertained, and a little bad, that someone seeking out legitimate information about the potential damage done to contact lenses when mingled with jalapenos instead finds this account.

Or when, perhaps, an aspiring Walt Disney history buff, wanting to gain insight into that famous innovator’s family tree, instead finds this (scroll down for the offending phrase: “I’d like to thank the Academy.” Disney’s Oscars. Not to be confused with Oscar Disney, Walt Disney’s first cousin twice removed.)

Finally, there’s a person, somewhere out there, who was interested in the inner workings of Escher’s brain, but instead, got to look at some fancy phone photos of my desk calendar.

And now, any future such searches will lead them not to their intended destinations, but to this post. Where they can view the above video. And drink in the beauty of a Rocky Mountain autumn.

And the confusing search cycle continues!

[Song is: Play On, by Kelsey James. Buy it here and here.]

the second half || New England road trip video

And so here we are. The second video from our New England road tour…trip…excursion…extravaganza!

I’d like to give a special thank you to my sister, Emily, for being such a good model-actress-sport and letting me stick my camera in her face throughout the trip. I’d also like to thank the llamas and the whales, they really held up their roles nicely. Academy Awards, next stop. Am I right?

And, because my mother registered an official complaint about a certain someone being noticeably absent from the last video (fingers pointed at me), Emily took the ol’ camera out for a spin and got some (brief) footage of yours truly too. She was an awesome director. Her vision is clear, concise, but with a nice dose of hidden depth. So another thank you to her for that.

Finally, this one, like the first installment, was all shot with my Nikon D300s, using a 35mm lens.

The song is Around Us by Jonsi. Buy their stuff at iTunes or Amazon.

go, do || New England road trip video

CONCORD, Mass. — Our trip, being nearly two weeks long, couldn’t be contained within one video.

Well, it could, but such a video would by necessity consist of short bursts of second-long segments that could quite possibly provoke a seizure in all that viewed it.

So, rather than endanger you, my faithful friends, I give you the first part of our New England road trip in video form.

I shot this video on my DSLR camera – my first using a camera other than the video app on my fancy phone! – so bear with me as I work out the kinks of a slightly more sophisticated tool.

We head a bit further north tomorrow, then finish off our trip back in Massachusetts.

It rather feels like we’ve been gone for weeks and weeks, and while we’re both loving this adventure, I think we are also becoming more acutely aware of how much we love home.

That’s just the nature of travel I suppose.

Anyway – the video!
