the business of life–and photography || an update

Hello? Remember me? The shamefaced girl who hasn’t posted anything on here in almost a week?

I’m sorry for my absence. This business of life has proven rather needy and attention hungry as of late. That in itself isn’t necessarily a bad thing. What is unfortunate is that it’s the kind of busyness that is largely behind-the-scenes and unpicturesque (you’ll notice I haven’t changed much in the intervening days; I still make up awkward sounding words). And therefore, not too exciting to relate to you all.

While that is my explanation, it’s not very explanatory (see, same girl). So here for you is a quick list of what’s been occupying my brain space. (Eew, brain space.)

the fourth || holiday adventure

We sallied forth upward to the state of Wyoming for the Fourth of July.

There were horses (pictured), sarsaparilla (not pictured), cannon fire (not pictured), and family (not pictured).

We went to Fort Laramie to see historical things and to get far too warm in 100 degree weather and enjoy this wonderful country in a very remote part of the country. Which was sort of perfect in its beauty, simplicity, and yes…100 degree weather.

There are many more photos to show you that I’m prepping for tomorrow’s post.

And! A video. Come on now, is anyone surprised?

from red eye to princeton || East Coast roundup

Hello, friends. It’s been too long. How is everyone doing?

I have returned from the east in one piece (that almost rhymes if you don’t pronounce t‘s which, from what I hear, Coloradans don’t), a little more tired, a little more experienced, and a lot more grateful for getting to dive further into the world of wedding photography.

The wedding went beautifully. Truly. We are blessed to have brides and grooms who are easy to work with, warm and welcoming.

But we’ll get more into that later when I have more images to share with you.

For now, I have a quick, little, fancy phone roundup of the weekend.

On jalapenos, and how I dislike them || Archive redux

(This picture has nothing to do with jalapenos. But it does have to do with cooking. So... 1-for-2?)

I have been doing my best impression of a blur today as I rush around getting work things done, getting packing things done, and getting photography things done. That’s a lot of things for just one of me. (Does anyone have a cloning device they’d be willing to loan me? Anyone?) In an effort to maintain what residual sanity I have left after it all , I’m bringing to you a past post from my since-retired blog.

June 30, 2010 — Have you ever heard of gazpacho? It’s a cold, summer-type soup, tomato-based and chock-full of vegetables. Well I decided yesterday while working away that I needed to have a healthy dinner. And what’s healthier than vegetable-y (Emily’s word, not mine) soup? So I diligently copied down the recipe and after work went to the store for supplies.
