staying, doing || tiny Tuesday thoughts

“The staying and doing it, in spite of everything.”

from Wild by Cheryl Strayed

This sums up my journey with starting a photography business thus far, almost perfectly, though Ms. Strayed isn’t speaking about business at all.

If you’ve ever tried to do something large, and unknowable, and full of muchness, then you know this feeling.

I suspect this feeling has made itself known to each of us at some point, in a specific, individual way.

And I suppose one way to define the successes and the failures in our lives is by whether or not we ultimately stay and do that unknowable, large thing.

In spite of everything.

Hypotheticals || Questions for the day

How many Eggo Waffles, are too many Eggo Waffles?

I’m asking for a friend. Of course. (Disregard the ice cream containers. Just…move along.)

Do eggs have an expiration date?

If yes, what happens if you use eggs past the expiration date?

After reading these questions, how many of you would accept a dinner invitation from me?

I’m an expert waffle toaster.

The jungle motif || Result of weekend arts

I walked into the pottery house to retrieve our masterpieces last Friday.

The woman who owns the place (I’m almost positive she’s the co-owner), rooted around the shelves for the two creations. Upon seeing Emily’s (the mug in the left photo), she exclaimed, “Wow, this is lovely!”

When she saw my finished product, the vase…crickets.

Denver City, the Rocky Mountain Empire || The Colorado Campaign

This post is to announce my intention to run for political office.

Do you believe me?

Do you believe anything I say on here?

No?

You guys are too smart for me.

So no, this post is not to alert you to any political aspirations I might have. (Because I have none.) It is however to ask you to join me on a new project. A campaign in-and-of itself.

Paint by dot || Weekend arts

“If you lined these up, you could definitely guess whose was whose.”

I’ve known these two gals forever. Obviously, Emily, as my sister, has seen it all (she deserves a medal, that one). I met Sommer during our freshman year of high school, and the three of us later roomed together for two years in college.

Since then we’ve all graduated from undergrad, the two of them went on to their respective master’s programs, we’ve had jobs, travels, and experienced the parting and meeting of all varieties of people. Through it all, we try to get together regularly for food. And movies. And movies with food. And food with a side of movies. And tater tots. And cupcakes. (We have…er, I mean had, naturally…refined palates.)

This time we decided to branch out and get artsy.
